The 2019 District meet is on the horizon and the Spring Hill boys are ready for it. They had an excellent showing at Yellow Jacket Relays against a tough Atlanta team. Zach Henry was one point shy of being the top athlete in the meet with 24 total points earned. Zach had a monster day in several events. He started the day getting his personal best in the long jump, 19′ 9.5″, finished 4th in the event. Henry managed to get over the bar at 12′ 6″ in the pole vault and come up with the bronze medal in that event. The third year varsity veteran is a 400 specialist. He has had a goal of running a 49 second 400 since he began his high school career. Zach got really close to that on Thursday. He ran a strong 50.80 second 400 and took the gold over a really good Atlanta kid. The kids were fired up about their 400 times and that carried over into the biggest event of the night, the Mile Relay. Spring Hill boys came into the meet with the second best time of 3:34.12. Atlanta was in lane 4 holding the best time of the 4X4 teams with a 3:25. Our boys were determined to beat them in the race. Spring Hill got the lead in the first lap and held on to that lead with each leg. In the final 10 meters of the race, Atlanta’s anchor leg finished strong and took the lead for the win. Everyone was extremely proud of both teams. The Spring Hill 4X400 team had a huge personal best time of 3:27.97! They lowered their time by more than 6 seconds.
