MALAKOFF — Darian Peace rushed for 181 yards and scored all three touchdowns for the Tigers, including a pair of scores in the fourth quarter, as Malakoff earned a 21-10 win over Spring Hill to snap the Panthers’ two-game winning streak.

Malakoff bounced back from its first loss of the season last week against Grandview (28-7) and moved to 3-1 on the year.

Spring Hill, which had won two in a row since opening the season with back-to-back losses, drops to 2-3.

After a scoreless first quarter, Malakoff drove 78 yards in six plays and got on the board when Nathan Jones hauled in a 43-yard touchdown pass from Peace. Ebaro Garcia tacked on the extra point, and the Tigers led 7-0 with 11?19 to play in the half.

That score stood at the break and through the third quarter, but Spring Hill lit its end of the scoreboard with 10:46 left in the game on a 37-yard field goal by Efren Barcenas. The scoring drive was a 7-play, 64-yard march for the Panthers.

Mabank extended its lead to 14-3 three minutes later on a 6-yard run by Peace and Garcia’s extra point, but the Panthers answered quickly.

Gage White, who finished the night 10 of 15 for 128 yards while adding 52 rushing yards, went up top and hit Daryn Beck on a 63-yard scoring peg at the 6:20 mark. Barcenas added the extra point, and the Panthers trailed 14-10.

Malakoff put things away with 1:32 remaining on a 30-yard run by Peace.

Beck had a 70-yard touchdown run called back due to a penalty in the first quarter.

Spring Hill will host Silsbee for their Homecoming game next Friday night.
