Another great fight was put up by our girls Friday night as they took on the visiting Lady Bulldogs of Kilgore. I have never been more proud as their coach of their effort and hard work. While our scores may not always show it, I have seen so much improvement and growth this year from our girls and I couldn’t ask for more.
The night started off close with both teams scoring eight points in the first quarter. Lexie White put up four points while Chloe Holcomb and Madison Schrieber both put up two.
The second and third quarters got away from us with Kilgore putting up a combined 29 points for the two quarters.
The fourth quarter our girls showed up and fought hard to try and come back. While we fell 11 points short of doing just that, I have never seen them play harder or more together as a team. What impressed me most is that they never gave up on each other and held each other up.
Madison Schrieber had another amazing night with a total of 13 points. Chloe Holcomb followed with a solid seven points. Lexie White had a great night with countless rebounds and six points. Erin Gregson played solid defense and contributed five points. Kylee Hudson rounded us out with great effort on both ends of the court with two points and fantastic rebounding and blocking out. Hadleigh Childress played some of the best defense this season with getting key stops and forcing needed turnovers. Meadow Crawford helped us create some much needed open shots and helped slow down Kilgore’s offense. Mashayla Knight came in and gave us great stops on defense and rebounded on both ends of the courts. Paige Allen also came in and helped get stops that we needed on the defensive end of the court.
We will travel to Henderson Tuesday night to start our final week of this basketball season. Follow us on Twitter for updates on the time and place.
