Sam Schott and Sadie Sparks were a two-headed monster for the Pine Tree Softball team last night as the Panthers fought back from a 6-2 deficit in the bottom of the 5th inning to a 10-6 victory at Panther Field. After surrendering two runs in the top of the 3rd inning, Spring Hill answered back with two runs of their own. Pine Tree put four runs up in the top of the 5th inning. Sparks then launched a Pirate pitch way over the left-center field fence for a 3-run bomb to narrow the Pirate lead to one. Schott then doubled on a 1-0 count in the bottom of the six to plate two runs and put Spring Hill up for good.
Schott earned the win in the circle, going seven innings, allowing six runs (1 earned) on seven hits, walking two and striking out twelve Pirate batters. She went 2-2 at the plate to lead the Panthers in hits and had two stolen bases. Hadleigh Childers, Rachel Doss, and Kenzie Gee each had a hit for Spring Hill.
The win gives the Panthers a record of 3-4. They are scheduled to play in the Lindale Tournament this weekend.
