Girls Varsity Softball · Softball Can’t Overcome Rough Start Against Gladewater


Spring Hill watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-3 loss to Gladewater on Saturday.  Gladewater scored on a double by Zoie Pilgrim, a single by Livia Prince, a single by Lily Cahal, a fielder’s choice by Tambea Lee, a walk by Lindsey Hickey, a fielder’s choice by Murphy Williams, a single by Prince, a double by Graci Hart, and a single by Caitlyn Mackey in the first inning.

Spring Hill struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Gladewater, giving up 14 runs.

Gladewater opened up scoring in the first inning, when Pilgrim doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Spring Hill scored three runs in the third inning.  Spring Hill’s offense in the inning came from singles by Lacey White and Jade Bowden.

Williams led things off on the rubber for Gladewater. She went five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out nine.

Samantha Schott toed the rubber for Spring Hill. She allowed one hit and two runs, walking one.  Sadie Sparks threw four innings out of the bullpen.

Maddie Malloy led Spring Hill with two hits in three at bats.
