Jayla Landrum tripled once, doubled twice and drove in three runs, Sydney Johnson banged out three doubles and drove in three and Spring Hill rolled to an 11-6 win over Van Alstyne on Saturday.
Maddie Malloy also had three doubles and drove in two runs for Spring Hill, and Paige Wilstead drove in a run.
Samantha Schott struck out one and walked three in four innings for the pitching win. She also collected a hit, as did Jade Bowden.
In a 5-0 loss to Aubrey, Spring Hill managed just three hits.
Sydney Johnson had two of the Panthers’ hits in the contest, with Samantha Schott adding a single. Rachel Doss struck out one and walked two in three innings, and Sadie Sparks fanned four with one walk and no runs allowed on two hits in two innings for the Panthers.
On Friday, the Panthers took on two-time defending state champion Bells. Spring Hill struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Bells, giving up 11 runs, many of them coming off of four homers for Bells.
Jayla Landrum was a bright spot for Spring Hill, with two of the team’s three hits. Rachel Doss and Sadie Sparks worked the circle for Spring Hill in the loss.
Spring Hill then took the field against Tom Bean. The Panthers watched the game slip away in the top of the first inning as Tom Bean scored four runs in the inning. Spring Hill lost 7-3 despite out-hitting Tom Bean ten to nine.
Samantha Schott got the start for Spring Hill. She pitched four innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs, while striking out five.
Maddie Malloy, Jayla Landrum, and Sydney Johnson each had multiple hits, with Malloy going 3-3 for the game.
