Half of Spring Hill quarterback Gage White’s completions went the distance on Friday in the Panthers’ 49-20 win over Brownsboro.
Ty Patterson, meanwhile, got into the scoring act from his linebacker position for Linden-Kildare in a 21-7 win over Clarksville.
For their efforts, White has been named the Texas Bank and Trust Offensive Player of the Week and Patterson has been selected the Rockers Riders & Ribs Defensive Player of the Week for the second week of the high school football season.
White, a sophomore, completed 8 of 12 passes for 152 yards and four touchdowns — three to Ryan Willis and one to Dayson Adaway. He also carried nine times for 47 yards and another touchdown as the Panthers improved to 2-0 on the young season.
In two games, White has completed 13 of 20 passes or 253 yards with five touchdowns and not interceptions to go along with 16 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown.
The Panthers will make the short trip to White Oak on Friday. The game will be the 49th meeting between the Panthers and Roughnecks.
Patterson recorded 18 tackles, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery against Clarksville. He returned his fumble 75 yards for a touchdown.
In two games, Patterson has recorded 43 tackles, two tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, an interception and two sacks.
Linden-Kildare will host Queen City on Friday.
