Game Recap

The 8th Grade A Team Lady Panthers competed in an all day tournament in Daingerfield this past weekend.

Their first game was against Daingerfield at 8. The Panthers were off to a slow start in the first quarter but picked it up. They ended up winning 32-7. Leading the team in points was Kenzie Gee with 20 points. Other scorers: Peyton Borens-4 points, Kaycee Campbell-2 points, Rachel Doss-2 points, Rachel Petree-2 points, and Lexie White-2 points.

Next up the girls played against All Saints. From the first quarter, the ladies showed up to play. They won the game 30-14. Leading the team in points again was Kenzie Gee with 17 points. Other scorers: Kaycee Campbell-5 points, Rachel Doss-4 points, Peyton Borens-2 points, and Rachel Petree-2 points

For their last game of the day, the championship game, the ladies faced off against Quitman. From the first quarter it was a close match, with some of the girls running into foul trouble. The ladies pulled out the win with a score of 24-23, making them the winners of their bracket. Leading the team in points was Peyton Borens and Kenzie Gee with 8 points each. Other scorers: Rachel Petree-6 points, Valerie Ferrell-2 points.

The coaches, as well as all the parents, are really proud of the ladies and how well they worked together. Even with such a long day of waiting/playing, they showed aggressiveness and teamwork in all of their games. Can’t wait to see what else this season has in store.
